How to help

With the holidays coming soon, people will need extra food. Plus, SNAP benefits are uncertain and don’t always provide enough food. Here’s how you can help:

  • Make a financial donation. We can purchase food less expensively from the Oregon Food Bank and from local and big-box stores.

  • Donate food. Here’s a list of where caring local businesses and organizations have set up food donation bins. Consider buying a little extra on your next shopping trip. Several restaurants are also doing “pay it forward” meals. See the list.

SNAP on, SNAP off

November SNAP benefits were loaded to EBT cards. They will not be removed from your card. Use the link below to apply, renew, or make changes.

SNAP information at the Oregon Department of Human Services

New SNAP rules and eligibility requirements were enacted last summer. They took effect November 1. Under these rules, fewer people are eligible, they must re-apply more often, and they are subject to more rules around working.

  • Any able bodied adults 18-64 (formerly 18-54) must work or be in school at least 80 hours per month. The exemptions for veterans and people experiencing homelessness have been removed.

  • The exemption for parents applies only if you have children under 14 (formerly 18).

Thanksgiving. We just don’t have enough space at our current, temporary location to manage Thanksgiving packages this year. We hope to have them back next year. We encourage you to contact the Tillamook YMCA or the Rockaway Lions.

What people are saying.

These quotes from our clients are why we do, what we do.

“The food bank has helped us through some hard times.”

“I never planned for what has happened to my life. I appreciate all your volunteers for all their work.”

“As a mother of four, single, and disabled, the food bank has truly saved us at times.”

“I’m a 63-old (still) mom. I’ve worked hard all my life to be able to retire, but my husband was killed and I’m still supporting our children I love so much. The food bank has saved my life and my children. Thanks.”

“Without this food assistance my children would be hungry.”
